Waldron Mercy Academy Joins Stop Hunger Now For The Third Consecutive Year

Friday, November 4, 2016 the Waldron Mercy Academy school community came together once again to participate in Stop Hunger Now. Stop Hunger Now is an organization “driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Our mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources (source).”

This is the third consecutive year that Waldron Mercy participated in Stop Hunger Now. Students in grades five through eight met together on campus in Dixon Gym to pack meals for those in need. This year’s goal of packing 20,000 meals was quickly met with the help of 160 volunteers. Not only has the Waldron Mercy school community united to package the meals, they also raised funds to donate to Stop Hunger Now. Every September, Waldron Mercy Academy celebrates Mercy Day and hosts a student walk-a-thon. This year, students raised $5,825 through this walk-a-thon, an amount that will supplement the food donation to Stop Hunger Now.
