COVID-19 Travel Policy
Please note according to the CDC travel is still not recommended at this time as travel increases your risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.
As a reminder, our Health and Safety Committee is composed of medical experts who have considered this topic very carefully, noting in particular that while adults are being vaccinated, none of our students are. After careful discussion, the H&S Committee has approved the following, effective immediately:
For the month of March our travel guidance stays the same. Families will complete a 10 day quarantine upon return to PA, or test 3-5 days after returning to PA to return to in-person learning on day 8.
Beginning April 1st we will lift travel restrictions for interstate travel when traveling BY CAR.
The H&S committee remains uncomfortable with traveling via airplane at this time. Therefore families deciding to travel by airplane are asked to still quarantine following the CDC guidance: Complete a 10 day quarantine upon return to PA, or test 3-5 days after returning to PA to return to in-person learning on day 8.
International travel will continue to follow CDC guidance: Families will complete a 10 day quarantine upon return to PA, or test 3-5 days after returning to PA to return to in-person learning on day 8.
We know that while some will breathe a sigh of relief that we have made these changes, others may feel some more stress. We cannot emphasize enough that how we all behave outside of school greatly affects our ability to operate safely in our school building. We ask that with this change in our guidelines comes great caution.
The Committee and our nurses want to stress the importance of responsible behavior regardless of where you are traveling. We expect that all families, faculty and staff will continue to follow our COVID mitigation policies of masking, distancing, hand washing, continuing to accurately complete the RUVNA screening and monitoring for COVID like symptoms. We really appreciate our families, faculty and staff for putting our community first and helping WMA maintain a safe and healthy environment for our students.
Please know that we reserve the right to make changes to this plan based on WMA’s experience and evolving public health guidance.
