[November, 2016] The Board of Trustee's search committee to select the school's next principal has been established. In assembling this committee, we sought current and past trustees who represent an understanding and appreciation of our Catholic, Mercy values; possess a diversity of professional expertise and talents, specifically in the areas of education, advancement, finance, and mission; and who represent current and past Waldron parents.

[December, 2016] The Board of Trustees and the members of the Principal Search Committee are extremely grateful to those of you who participated in our visioning process which has helped to inform our search for a new principal. Waldron Mercy staff, families, alumni and Board members significantly contributed to the shaping of the principal job description. The job description is now officially posted on the Waldron Mercy website and in numerous other publications. Furthermore, we would like to encourage word of mouth and personal connections as part of our recruitment efforts. If you know of a promising candidate for this position, please alert them to the opening. We also ask that you join us in praying for the best possible candidate to emerge to lead Waldron Mercy toward its 100th Anniversary. It is our goal to find a candidate who will maintain the stability and sustainability of the institution, ensuring that future generations of students will benefit from the school’s Catholic, Mercy mission and excellence in education.

About the position:

Waldron Mercy Academy, a Catholic co-educational school serving students from pre-school to eighth grade located in Merion Station, PA, is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Principal. The Principal will ensure the continued excellence of school programs and enhance the distinctive mission of the school.

Waldron Mercy Academy’s talented faculty and staff have fostered an incredibly supportive community where children thrive. Waldron Mercy Academy seeks a leader to inspire in students a lifetime of learning, service and faith, which are the heart of Mercy mission.

The Principal provides leadership to the administrative team, faculty, staff, students and parents in strategic planning, institutional advancement, academics, campus ministry, the arts, athletics and all co-curricular activities. The Principal is recommended by the Board of Trustees and appointed by the Sponsor Council of the Sisters of Mercy Mid-Atlantic Community.

The successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic, a proven leader with a minimum of three years administrative experience, a relationship-builder, a skillful communicator who understands the unique benefits of a Catholic education in the Mercy tradition, and willing to foster a culture of respect and high expectations.

Process and Timeline:

After visiting the school’s website and carefully reading the job description, please submit the following electronically within one document to S. Rose Martin, Search Committee Chair at:

  1. A letter of interest written uniquely for Waldron Mercy Academy aligning your skills and experience with the needs of the school, as you understand them;
  2. A current resume with all dates included;
  3. One page statement of educational philosophy and leadership practice;
  4. List of 5 references with name, connection to the candidate, phone number and email address of each (references will be contacted only with the candidate’s permission and not before a mutual interest is clearly established).
  5. Scanned copies of the three Background Clearances required by the state of Pennsylvania for employment in private and public schools: Department of Human Service Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check, and Federal Criminal History Record Information.
