Thomas O'BrienThomas O'Brien

High School: LaSalle College High School
Favorite Subject: Language Arts
Hardest and most rewarding assignment: 10-page paper on the high cost of U.S. healthcare

Thomas ran on the Cross Country team in the fall. He also served a student ambassador for admissions and participated in the William R. Sasso Student Diplomat Program. He’s looking forward to summer plans that take him to Lake George, NY and to rowing camp at LaSalle High School.

We asked Thomas who was a standout teacher and he shared, “Mr. Fogarty because his religion papers made me really think about the world.” Thomas adds that Waldron has prepared him for the academic and social challenges in high school and beyond.

Thomas moved to Philadelphia in 2013 and was anxious about entering 6th grade at a new school.  He remembered this moment and the impact Sister Joellen, Director of Admission, had on him when we asked him about a moment of mercy that he witnessed.  “She made me feel like I had always been at Waldron. I knew that I wanted to attend WMA after meeting her.”

Sister Joellen offered these words of encouragement to Thomas upon his graduation, “I am so glad your family choose WMA for you. You added a great deal to our school community. You are a bright, fun-filled, gentle person. Let your light shine for all to see as you move into high school and beyond. You have much to give others.”

Congratulations, Thomas.  Keep in touch!
