“Reflections from the Well of Mercy”

“Our hearts should be replenished with love and gratitude to our God,
for allowing us graciously to aid Him in the person of the poor.”

Upcoming Announcement by the Archdiocese

Many of you may have heard of the announcement to be made on Friday, January 6, concerning the Catholic school system in our Archdiocese. We are counting on you, our parents and staff, to encourage these families to be aware of WMA and all that we have to offer. We know that there will be many families who will want their children to continue in a strong Catholic school.

Although we know that we cannot absorb all of the students that may be involved, we do have some space in our middle grades in particular, where they would be welcome to apply. Our next Open House is Wednesday, January 18, at 7:00 p.m. Interested families can also call Sister Joellen in the Admission Office at 484-420-2706 and make an appointment. Each of you has served as an ambassador for our school in the past, and we count on you to continue to influence those for whom our school would be a good fit.

Eight Weeks Till Tigerfest - Join the Mardi Gras Madness!

You are invited to join the parade of WMA supporters who will “laissez les bons temps rouler” (let the good times roll) at Tigerfest on March 3, at Springfield Country Club, to socialize, play games, wine, dine and bid, to raise money for Waldron capital improvements, student aid, faculty and staff benefits, and outreach projects. All WMA families are invited to volunteer, support and attend.
Tigerfest is being held earlier than usual this year, so now’s the time to support this important WMA fundraiser.

Christmas Thanks

Many thanks to all who brought in gifts for the Giving Tree. We were able to give Christmas presents to over 325 of our outreach partners at St. Katherine Day School, Mercy Neighborhood Ministries—adults and children, Catholic Worker Clinic, Bethesda Project, Our Lady of Hope Church, and St. Columba’s. Your generosity was such a blessing to all of those men, women and children. Thank you to all children, parents and faculty who joined in this project.

H.O.P.E. Lunches

H.O.P.E. stands for Help Other People Eat.
One Wednesday a month, we ask families to make a lunch consisting of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a dessert and a piece of fruit (no drinks). You can decorate the bag if you wish to brighten the person’s day. These lunches are delivered to St Francis Inn in Kensington, a homeless shelter. What a wonderful way to practice the works of Mercy by feeding the hungry and showing mercy to those who are less fortunate.

Wednesday, January 11, is our next H.O.P.E. Lunch Day. Thanks for your generosity!

Session II Clubs 2012

Session II Clubs will begin on Monday, January 23, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., after which you can pick your child up in Car Line.  Click here to register before Friday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m.!

Mercy Neighborhood Ministries Afterschool Outreach

For the past two years, we have done an afterschool outreach program with Mercy Neighborhood Ministries. Students travel there to help students in their aftercare program with their homework and then play games together. This outreach will take place on Monday afternoons from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. Parents of students in grades 6, 7, and 8, click here to complete the online permission form.

Upcoming Collections

January is a great time to do some cleaning out—clean out your room, clean out your closet, clean out your bookshelves! Over the next few weeks we will be collecting different items. Please bring donations only during the days indicated. Our outreach partners so appreciate all that we share with them!! Thank you for your generosity!
