Harry J.J. Bellwoar III
The Mother Patricia Waldron Award honors a person “for faithful service in the spirit of mercy with compassionate dedication and devotion to the Waldron community.” Harry Bellwoar ’45 has certainly provided such faithful service.
“Harry and his brothers, Thomas ’48, Joseph ’50 and Robert ’55, have attended many of Waldron’s Golf and Tennis Classics,” says Golf Classic Chair Lou Marchese. “We think of them as our ‘faithful foursome.’” Harry was a member of the Waldron Advisory Board, which helped guide the new Waldron Mercy Academy in 1987 when Waldron Academy for Boys merged with Merion Mercy Academy’s lower school. In addition, Harry and his law firm, Schubert, Bellwoar, Cahill & Quinn, have been generous supporters of Waldron Mercy through Annual Giving and Tigerfest. Harry and his wife Joan are also the grandparents of alumni Peter ’10 and Greg ’11 Bellwoar.
“Waldron has changed significantly since I attended,” Harry says. “It’s co-ed and has grown substantially. I really appreciate the opportunity Waldron provides for a diverse group of students to get a wonderful education.”
