Waldron Mercy Academy offers a scholarship test in the fall/winter for present WMA students and prospective students entering grade six.The Edgar Griffiths Scholarship, a full scholarship, and the Mary T. Griffiths Scholarship, a half scholarship, are available for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Those students who are qualified must achieve a score of 98 or higher on a standardized test supplied by the Scholastic Testing Service. Testing is followed up by an interview with the Scholarship Committee, and students will be asked for a copy of their most recent report cards and letters of recommendation from their current teachers. Scholarship decisions will be made by the end of January.
The scholarships are provided through the generosity of Edgar Griffiths Jr., Waldron Academy Class of 1935 and his wife, Mary T. Griffiths, whose bequest of $1.85 million was received this spring by Waldron Mercy Academy. Edgar Griffiths served as president, CEO and chairman of RCA before his retirement in 1981.
