WMA and Outreach   

Whether students are delivering lunches to a homeless shelter, collecting toiletries for those in need at Christmas, putting together food baskets at Thanksgiving, or holding a bake sale for Leukemia, Waldron Mercy's long tradition of outreach permeates our classrooms and our students lives.

Early Childhood Class and Pre-Kindergarten
Convent of Mercy, Merion Station
The Convent of the Sisters of Mercy
WMA students visit the aging Sisters, do crafts with them and perform for them.

Kindergarten
St. Donato School, Philadelphia, PA
An inner city Catholic school struggling to provide students quality education
WMA students collect needed items and monetary donations to provide assistance to the school. They have also invited students to share in listening to a storyteller and to watch our school musical in the spring.

First Grade

Mercy Neighborhood Ministries
3535 North 19th Street, Philadelphia, PA  19140
A non-profit organization that provides child care, adult day care and adult education and human development services to the financially, socially and spiritually stressed families in the Tioga section of Philadelphia.
WMA students collect toiletries and other necessities for Mercy Neighborhood Ministries.  They have also invited the men and women of the adult day care to join in some games and activities and to share in watching the spring musical with them. 


Second Grade

Missionary Sisters of Charity, Norristown, PA
A shelter that provides assistance to women and children who are homeless
WMA students collect needed items for the daily running of the shelter.

Third Grade 
DePaul Catholic Schooll, Philadelphia, PA 
An inner city school struggling to provide students quality education 
WMA students are donating school supplies throughout the year to the students at DePaul Catholic. They are also writing letters to them on a regular basis.


Fourth Grade
Bethesda Project
1630 South Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146
Bethesda Project’s fundamental commitment is to create communities wherein men and women, on the margins of a complex society, find sanctuary and have their basic needs met in the company of a compassionate and caring family.
WMA students collect toiletries for the residents, needed items for the daily running of the shelter.  Students have also made special desserts for various holidays to send to the residents. 

Fifth Grade

Catholic Worker, Philadelphia, PA
Provides health care to the underserved homeless and poor in Kensington.
WMA students collect needed toiletries for the clients of the health center. Students also assist the clients in writing and sending Christmas and holiday greetings to their friends and family.

Sixth Grade
Hayes Manor Retirement Residence
2210 Belmont Avenue, Philadelphia, PA  19131
Provides dignified housing, excellent health care, and essential services to older people of limited financial resources 
WMA students visit residents of Hayes Manor bimonthly.  They have also invited them to share in our winter and spring musical presentations.

Seventh Grade
DePaul Catholic Schooll, Philadelphia, PA 
An inner city school struggling to provide students quality education 
WMA students are donating school supplies throughout the year to the students at DePaul Catholic. They also read to them on a regular basis.


Eighth Grade
Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, Philadelphia, PA
Serves families in Tioga, a neighborhood that is financially, socially and spiritually stressed.
WMA students visit the adult day care program and play games, do art projects and play music with the participants.
